Baidu mit Augmented-Reality-Plattform für Smartphones

Baidu, der führende Suchmaschinen-Anbieter in China, hat DuSee vorgestellt, eine Augmented-Reality-Plattform für Smartphones. DuSee wird in Baidu’s wichtige Plattform-Apps integriert sein, etwa in die Mobile Baidu Search App, die eine riesige Nutzerbasis mehreren hundert Millionen monatlich aktiven mobilen Anwendern vorweisen kann. Chef-Entwickler Dr. Andrew Ng: „DuSee ist eine natürliche Erweiterung von Baidu‘s Expertise in der Künstlichen Intelligenz; der Weg zur besseren AR führt über bessere AI.“

[…] Baidu announced DuSee, a new augmented reality (AR) platform developed for smartphones. DuSee will be integrated into Baidu’s flagship platform apps, such as the Mobile Baidu search app, which has a user base of hundreds of millions of monthly active mobile users.
DuSee is a collaboration between Baidu Research’s Institute of Deep Learning (IDL) and Baidu’s search products, sales and marketing teams. It is the culmination of a 3D vision research project which began nearly two years ago.
Rather than building the specialized goggles traditionally used in augmented reality and virtual reality apps, Baidu has focused on developing advanced software that leverage smartphones.
